About Us

Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust is run by an Executive Board and who are accountable to the Department for Education ('the DfE') and run according to a scheme of delegation. Each Academy has its own Local Governing Body.

The Governors who serve on the Local Governing Body are appointed by the Executive Board when the school converts to become an academy. In the vast majority of cases this means that the existing governing body remain. SNMAT expect and encourage local governing bodies to include both parent and staff representatives.

Schools joining our MAT must agree to:

  • Retain their unique identity, traditions and role within the local community
  • Work together to improve learning across SNMAT academies
  • Adopt, and contribute to the annual review of, a small number of operational (i.e. non-pedagogical) policies
  • Identify where good practice exists and where more support is needed

Schools in the Southwell and Nottingham Diocese (an area broadly equivalent to Nottinghamshire) are eligible to join the Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust.

This includes Church of England and maintained schools.
